Bolognese, Evans Earn ECAC/EIGL Men's Gymnastics Championships

West Point, N.Y. -- April 4, 2009 -- Senior Matt Bolognese and freshman Ty Evans earned individual honors in the ECAC/EIGL Championships at the U.S. Military Academy tonight. Bolognese won the still rings, and Evans the vault. The duo become the first EIGL Champions at Springfield since Josh Chasse won the still rings at the EIGL's in 2002.

Bolognese of Stony Brook, N.Y. finished first in the rings with a score of 14.850. Evans of San Jose, Calif. finished first in the vault with a score of 15.650.

Overall, however, Springfield had three gymnasts earn All-EIGL accolades a total of seven times. Besides winning the vault, Evans also finished tied for third on the floor exercise with a score of 14.300, and fifth on the parallel bars with a score of 13.600.

Josh Fox of Ellicott City, Md. also had an excellent meet,becoming a three-time EIGL performer. Besides finishing fifth in the Al-Around last night, Fox also placed second on the floor exercise with a 14.400, and fifth in the high bar at 13.650.

In addition, senior Andy Kelly of Marstons Mills, Mass. placed eighth in the parallel bars with a score of 12.400, just missing All-EIGL status.
