FAIRFIELD, Conn., March 6, 2004 –Despite a game-high five goals by senior attackman
Craig Gibson (South Salem, N.Y.), No. 15 Springfield College men’s lacrosse lost to No. 4 Washington (Md.) College, 12-8, in its season-opener this afternoon in Fairfield, Conn.
Sophomore attackman
Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) was credited with a game-high four assists for SC (0-1) in a game played at Fairfield University’s Alumni Field.
Washington (3-0) opened the game with five unanswered goals, including two by senior midfielder
Stephen Berger (Columbia, Md.), to take a 5-1 first-quarter lead, and never looked back for its third-straight victory to open the 2004 season.
Freshman
Kyle Cloutier (South Hadley, Mass.) logged six saves and 37:46 minutes in goal for SC in his first collegiate appearance.
Berger scored three goals and two assists while junior attackman
Jon Spivey (Timonium, Md.) tallied three goals and one assist for Washington.
Springfield returns to action on Saturday (March 13) traveling to Hartwick (N.Y.) for a 1:00 p.m. faceoff.
