Women's Swimming and Diving Place Fourth at ECAC's

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. – December 2, 2007 --Paced behind outstanding individual performances from Moira Price (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) and Erin White (Glastonbury, Conn.), the Springfield College women's swimming and diving team recorded a fourth-place finish at the ECAC Winter Championships this weekend.

Price, who individually scored the fourth most points on the women's side with 71, had a terrific showing for the Pride. She set new ECAC records and met NCAA B cut times in the 100 and 200-breaststroke as she picked up a pair of wins. She touched first in the 100-breast in 1:07.13 and finished in 2:23.06 in the 200-breast. She also finished second in the 100 freestyle (53.76), and fifth in the 50 freestyle (24.99).

White dominated the meet on both boards for the Pride as she set a new ECAC 11-meter dive record with 445.40 points on the one-meter. She was closely followed by teammates Meghan Kijanka (Methuen, Mass.) in third (276.45), Michelle Reggio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) in fifth (362.65), Melissa Nelson (Wallingford, Conn.) in sixth (362.15), and Janine DeGennaro (Middletown, N.Y.) in seventh (353.25). The Pride placed five divers in the top seven of the one-meter event.

White had the same success on the three-meter as she placed first with a score of 432.80. Once again, her teammates were right behind her as Reggio placed in third (410.45), Nelson in fifth (391.00), Kijanka in sixth (359.65), and DiGennaro in seventh (343.40).

Emily Sheahan (Erin, N.Y.) also had a nice showing for the Pride as she placed sixth in the 1650-freestyle (18:14.56), seventh in the 500-freestyle (5:21.41), and 15th in the 200-freestyle (2:02.57).

Kallie Pottle (Brewer, Maine) touched sixth in the 100-backstroke (1:02.41), fourth in the 200-backstroke (2:12.95), and 11th in the 100- butterfly (1:02.43).

Meredith Trumbull (Merrimac, Mass.) also finished ninth in the 200-butterfly (2:17.99) and 10th in the 100-butterfly (1:02.16).

The 400-medley relay team of Pottle, Price, Trumbull, and Kelly Ockerbloom (South Yarmouth, Mass.) also placed sixth with a time of 4:15.70.

The Pride returns to action on Dec. 8 when it travels to take on Middlebury.
