Springfield, which had totaled 345 strokes in the opening day of the competition, knocked 14 strokes off their team total as they played The Links, a Par 72, 6,636 yard run at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. The Pride opened their second round on the back nine today.
It was a historic trip for Springfield, as it marked the first time in program history that it they competed in the NCAA Championships. Out of the 41 teams in the national event, Springfield finished 39th.
Leading Springfield was Adam Ziewacz, who shot a team-best 81. This year's New England College Conference Player of the Year was just five-over through 16 holes before playing the final two holes in four-over.
Ryne McEvoy was right behind Ziewacz with an 82, going five-over on each nine holes, while Tim Vollaro fired an 83, besting his first-day total by 14 strokes.
Springfield's final two golfers were just a few shots back, with Chris Vincent posting an 85 and Tom Sangeloty carding an 86.
