



Complete ResultsAmherst, Mass. - September 12, 2009 - Amanda DiPaolo dominated the competition, winning by 43 seconds, as the Springfield College women's cross country team competed at the Amherst Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
The host Lord Jeffs won the race with 23 points, while the Pride finished second with 38 points, and Wheaton finished third with 79 points.
DiPaolo crossed the finish line in 19:08, exactly 43 seconds in front of the second-place runner. Teammate Lacey Cartier finished in fourth place in 20:13, while Alex Mustardo crossed the finish line in 10th place in 20:54.9. Springfield's top five runners were rounded out by Caitlyn Crosby (21:19.0) and Michelle Mirti (21:31.5).
The Pride return to action next Saturday when it races in the UMass Dartmouth Invitational.
Jim Pennington enters his 28th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2011-2012. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
