Men's Soccer Falls To Wheaton, 2-1, In Overtime

Norton, Mass.>, Nov. 2, 2002 - Springfield College senior midfielder Brett Oberacker (Bethel, Conn.) scored the game's first goal off a corner kick from junior forwardRyan Lavner (Shrewsbury, Mass.)in 20th minute, but it wasn't enough as the Pride fell to Wheaton College , 2-1, in overtime, in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) regular season finale this afternoon.

Wheaton senior forward David Wurm (Dunstable, Mass.) netted both goals for the Lyons. The game winner came with just three minutes into overtime when Wurm punched in a rebound off of the crossbar to seal the victory. Wurm also scored the game tying goal with just over four minutes left in the first half.

With the loss, the Pride fall to 5-12-1 (1-4-1 NEWMAC) while Wheaton improves to 15-4 (5-1). SC will face WPI in Worcester on Wednesday, Nov. 6, in the first round of the NEWMAC tournament.
