



Ewing, N.J. - December 4, 2009 - Matt Fitzgerald posted a pair of national qualifying scores to lead the Springfield College men's diving team at the opening night of the TCNJ Diving Invitiational on Friday evening.Fitzgerald paced the Pride while qualifying for nationals in both the 11-dive three-meter and six-dive three-meter. The senior All-American notched 464.1 points in the 11-dive three-meter, and 313.68 points in the six-dive three-meter. Both finishes were good enough first place in the meet in addition to the national qualifying marks.
Freshman Kenny Pancoast finished fifth in both the 11-dive three-meter (395) and six-dive three-meter (230.4). Classmate Derek Shaver finished eighth in each event with 306.1 points in the 11-dive three-meter and 177.95 six-dive three-meter.

John Taffe enters his 24th season in 2012-2013 as the head coach of the men's and women's swimming teams at Springfield College. Under Taffe’s leadership, the Pride has returned to its status as one of the best collegiate swimming and diving programs in Division III. Read more.
