Coyle and Fuller Lead Men's Track and Field at New England Division III Championships

Cambridge, Mass. - May 5, 2012 - Brian Fuller and Kevin Coyle each captured individual titles to lead the Springfield College men's track and field team to a sixth-place finish at the New England Division III Track and Field Championships on Saturday.

MIT won the competition with 113 points, followed by Williams (97.5), Bates (91.5), Tufts (68), Bowdoin (63) and Springfield (40.33).

Fuller won the 3,000 meter steeplechase in a blazing time of 8:56.79, while Coyle won the long jump by over a foot after leaping a distance of 23-03.50.

Placing third in the javelin was Parker Ashton-Young, who posted a heave of 186-08 .

Mason Durant recorded a fifth-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 49-03.75, while Dale DeCouta tied for fifth in the high jump after leaping 6-04.

In the 4x800 relay, Matt Scully, Steven Gilfeather, Ryan O'Connell, and Zach Pietras combined to run a 7:51.60 to place fifth.

Also performing well on the afternoon was Anthony Salvucci, who took sixth in the 5,000 meters in 14:50.57.
