SPRINGFIELD, Mass., December 1, 2005- Springfield College senior forward Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) has been named a womensfieldhockey.com First-Team All-America honoree.
Brooker, a graduate of Edward Little High School, scored 15 goals and added three assists in her senior campaign. She was fifth in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) in goals and goals per game, as she led the Pride to its second-straight conference championship.
Senior midfielder Meghan Bascetta (Granby, Conn.) has been named as a second team All-America selection. She scored ten goals and had two assists on the season, and was eighth in the NEWMAC in goals scored. Freshman defender Jillian Urtz (Verona, N.Y.) has been named to the All-Rookie squad, as Urtz was a big reason why SC led the NEWMAC in scoring defense, allowing just 1.10 goals per game.
The Pride finished its season with a 21-3 overall record and a 7-1 mark in the NEWMAC. SC advanced to the ‘Elite 8’ of the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Tournament, where it was ousted by Bowdoin College.
