



Complete ResultsWestfield, Mass. - October 7, 2012 – The Springfield College men’s cross country team had a tremendous showing at the New England Championships on Sunday as it finished 17th out of 37 competing teams.The Pride finished the 8,000 meter course with 478 total points.
In a race comprised of the top Division I, II, and III institutions in New England, Springfield's 17th place finish was fifth best among Division III opponents. In fact, the Pride had it's highest team finish in the event since the 1993 team took 16th.
Dartmouth was able to win the event with the lowest score of 83 total points, and an average time of 24:47.33.
Anthony Salvucci had an impressive showing for Springfield, as he finished 28th out of the 261 total runners. Salvucci’s time was 25:06.58.
Ryan O’Connell had the next highest finish for the Pride, as he placed 72nd overall, with a time of 25:37.08. Erich Voelker was the next member of the Pride to cross the finish line, as he checked in at 97th overall, with a time of 25:56.00.
Zach Pietras finished 129th overall with a time of 26:09.66. Also, finishing in the top five for the Springfield men’s team was Matt Scully, who finished 152nd after running to a time of 26:25.43.
The men’s cross country team will be back in action next weekend, as they travel to New London, Conn. to compete in the Connecticut College Invitational.
Bryan Brown will enter his second season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2012. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, led Springfield to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships a year ago .
