Sienkiewicz Earns NEWMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week Honors

Sienkiewicz Earns NEWMAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week Honors Babson Park, Mass. - February 11, 2013 - Sophomore Nick Sienkiewicz was honored as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week following a tremendous performance on Sunday.

The Cranston, R.I. native was sensational on both ends of the floor as Springfield knocked off WPI, who entered the game ranked 2nd in the nation, by the score of 66-60.

Sienkiewicz connected on five of his 10 field goals, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc en route to a season-best 19 points to go along with five rebounds. On the defensive side of the ball, he blanketed WPI standout Sam Longwell, holding him without a field goal and to a season-low two points.

This marks the fourth time this year that a Springfield College men's basketball player earned the conference's weekly honor. Sienkiewicz is the third different player to take home the honor, as teammate Alex Berthiaume has been selected twice and Jordan Rote was named once.
