Simmons Prevails Over Women's Tennis, 6-3

Springfield, Mass. - April 13, 2013 - In its final home match of the season, the Springfield College women's tennis team was upended by Simmons, 6-3, on Saturday afternoon on Appleton Courts.

Springfield took two of the three doubles matches to earn an early 2-1 advantage. At No. 1 doubles, the combination of Sam Carney and Jen Cleary won 9-7, while in the third doubles slot, Melanie Thulin and Ariana Shemms won by an 8-5 score. In singles action, Carney came away with the win, 6-4, 7-6 at No. 1.

Springfield now sits at 6-10 on the year, with one match against Rhode Island College left on the schedule. The Pride travel to Providence on Wednesday for a 4 pm start time.
