Women's Lacrosse Downs Oswego, 9-6, In Spring Break Opener

Kelly Gallo Orlando, Fla. - March 17, 2013 - Allie Davis and Kelly Gallo each scored twice to power the Springfield College women's lacrosse team to a 9-6 victory against Oswego on Sunday morning at ESPN's Wide World of Sports Complex.

The Pride rebounded with a strong victory after its first loss of the year earlier this week as it improved its record to 5-1.

In addition to Gallo and Davis netting a pair of goals, Emily Fowler, Michelle Dorsey, Kerstin Lindrooth, Meghan Flanagan, and Connie Nielsen each found the back of the cage. Flanagan snagged a team-best five draw controls, and Ellie Getchell and Gallo each had two caused turnovers.

Anne Versprille registered seven stops in goal for the Pride.

The Pride held a 4-2 lead at the half before netting three quick goals to start the second half to gain a five-goal cushion. Oswego made a late push, but Springfield was able to hold on for the 9-6 win.

Springfield will play again on Tuesday morning when it clashes with William Smith at 10:00 am.
