



Springfield, Mass. - August 31, 2011 - Springfield College has reached an agreement with ESPN 1450 The Hall to broadcast its four home football games for the upcoming 2011 campaign.Coupled with its increasing video-streaming efforts, this partnership provides families, friends, and fans of Springfield College football another opportunity to follow the Pride this season.
In addition to being able to listen on 1450 AM, the games will be audio-streamed on http://www.espnspringfield.com as well as on the Springfield College website, http://www.springfieldcollege.edu/athletics.
“This is certainly another exciting step for Springfield College athletics,” said Director of Athletics, Dr. Cathie Schweitzer. “This partnership makes so much sense and provides another avenue to follow our student-athletes.”
Anchoring the play-by-play will be Springfield College faculty member Kyle Belanger, who will be assisted by several students from the Communications/Sports Journalism major.
“We are very excited to be entering in this partnership,” said Rob Anthony, Program Director and Operations Manager at ESPN 1450 explained. “Kyle brings so much to the table and it was very important to us to provide Springfield College with a venue to broadcast their games after the June 1st tornado damaged their radio station.”
The Pride will kick off the season on September 10 when it hosts Frostburg State in Empire 8 Conference action at 1:00 pm. Springfield’s three other home games include Husson (Sept. 17), Ithaca (Oct. 15), and St. John Fisher (Oct. 22).
Springfield is coming off a 9-2 season a year ago in which it captured the 2011 ECAC North Atlantic Championship Bowl.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 32nd season as a head football coach in the fall of 2013. He enters his 30th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980. Read more.
