Vanasse Tabbed NEWMAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week

Vanasse Selected as NEWMAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Wellesley, Mass. - October 15, 2012 - After anchoring the Springfield College men's soccer team in a pair of wins last week, Drew Vanasse was honored as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

In a 1-0 shutout of local rival Westfield State, the Concord, Mass. native controlled the Springfield back line. On Saturday in a critical conference game at MIT, Vanasse led a defensive unit that allowed just one goal despite the Engineers peppering the Pride with 19 shots.

Winners of three-straight contests, Vanasse and the Pride will play Brandeis on Wednesday evening in non-conference play.
