Under Head Coach Daryl Arroyo, Springfield finished third in the most recent tournament, its own Doug Parker Invitational, held right here at the Springfield College Field House last Saturday. But SC was first among teams hailing from New England, trailing only Brockport and Centenary in the final order of finish.
The Pride claimed 11 first place votes and a total of 137 points in today's poll. In second place was Roger Williams with 115 points and one first-place vote. In third place was Johnson & Wales with 104 points.
Up next was Wesleyan with 94 points, followed by Plymouth State and Williams with 86 points each. Williams had received the remaining two first-place votes.
In seventh through 10th were: Bridgewater State with 50 points, Southern Maine with 46 points, Rhode Island College with 38 points, and Coast Guard with 14 points.
Senior John Archambeau (Ludlow, Mass.) of Springfield College won the 165-pound weight class in the 18-team field at the Doug Parker.
Springfield will next compete at the Petrofes Invitational at Messiah College in Grantham, Pa. Dec. 3-4.
