Paul Purdy And Taylor Brown Named Honorable Mention All-Americans In Men's Lacrosse

Paul Purdy (Brewster, N.Y.) and sophomore attackman
Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) were named honorable mention STX/USILA Division III All-Americans after leading the Pride to its fourth Pilgrim Lacrosse League Championship and NCAA Tournament berth in the last five years.
Purdy was also named the Pilgrim League Player of the Year and a New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) second-team selection this spring. He finished second for the Pride with 64 points (31 goals, 33 assists) and wrapped up his career as the seventh all-time leading scorer in school history with 204 points (120 goals, 84 assists).
Brown garnered first-team Pilgrim League and NEILA recognition after leading SC in goals (33), assists (41) and points (74). He finished the season ranked 20th in Division III in points per game (4.35) and 12th in assists per game (2.41). Brown was also named an honorable mention All-American in 2003.
Springfield finished the season with a 13-4 record and ranked No. 9 in the final Division III poll of the year. The Pride defeated Western New England College, 12-11, in the Pilgrim League Championship game to earn the program’s 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. SC fell at Stevens Institute of Technology, 8-4, in a second-round game.
