



Babson Park, Mass. - May 4, 2011 - The Springfield College men's track and field team had 13 student-athletes selected to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Track and Field Academic All-Conference Team.Springfield selections that were honored for their academic success included Eric Archambeault, Stephen Creamer, Brian Fuller, Steven Gilfeather, Brandon Gruver, Alex Harrington, Russell Johnson, Matt Krakowski, Anthony Pelleteri, Chris Quetant, Vijay Saxena, Garrett Sharnick, and Ryan Ux.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2010 fall semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
