SPRINGFIELD, Mass., May 25, 2004 -- Springfield College will send four individuals to the NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships that will be held May 27-29 at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois.
All-American
Pawel Jaroszewicz (East Longmeadow, Mass.) caps a remarkable senior season by competing in the 400-meter dash. He turned in a third-place performance in that event at the NCAA indoor championships in March to lead the Pride to a 20th-place finish. At both the ECAC Division III Indoor and Outdoor Championships, Jaroszewicz sprinted to first in the 400 meters, and he won the Division III New England Indoor title in the 200 meters.
Junior All-American
Blake Gulino (Old Saybrook, Conn.) qualified in the long jump for the second-consecutive season. Gulino, who placed eighth in the preliminaries at last season’s outdoor championships, finished fourth in the event at the ’03 NCAA indoor championships.
Two newcomers to the national meet are sophomore
Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.), an All-New England selection in the shot put, and freshman
Cameron Turchetti (South Deerfield, Mass.), a Division III All-New England choice in the javelin.
