Veazie's Hat Trick Leads No. 10 Field Hockey To 5-0 Win In NEWMAC Tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Oct. 30, 2004 - Springfield College freshman forward
Brittany Veazie (Dexter, Maine) scored three goals to lead the No. 10 Pride to a 5-0 win over Smith College in quarterfinal action of the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) field hockey tournament on Benedum Field.
Veazie put SC on the board with her first goal at the 29:51 mark, before junior forward
Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) gave the Pride (17-3) a 2-0 cushion with 17:09 remaining in the half. Veazie’s second goal came off the first of Brooker’s two assists with 15:03 on the clock to give Springfield a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Veazie registered her first-career hat trick with a goal at the 33:40 mark to make it a 4-0 SC lead. Junior midfielder
Alisha Miner (Sanbornton, N.H.) netted the game’s final goal with 12:46 to play off the second assist in the game from junior forward

The top-seeded Pride is scheduled to host fourth-seeded Clark, which was a 3-0 winner over MIT in other first-round action today, on Saturday (Nov. 6) in the semifinals of the NEWMAC Championship, time TBA.
