



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- October 20, 2008 -- After powering the field hockey team to a pair of victories last week, Jane Kelleher has been chosen as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week as well as the ECAC Division III New England Offensive Player of the Week in field hockey.The Chatham, Mass. native had standout week for the Pride as Springfield moved into sole possession of first place in the league standings.
For the week, Kelleher netted three goals, including the game-winning tallies in each of Springfield's contests.
In the 2-1 come-from-behind win over Mount Holyoke, Kelleher scored the game-winner in the 66th minute to lift Springfield to victory. In Saturday's clash with Wellesley, Kelleher powered the Pride to victory as she netted two goals in the first half en route to the 4-1 victory.
For the season, Kelleher leads the team with 12 goals.
After nine years as head coach of the Pride, Melissa Sharpe has continued the tradition of winning on the field hockey turf, posting an impressive 130-68 record, good for a winning percentage of .656 at the helm of her alma mater. Read more.
