No. 16 Field Hockey Needs Stroke Off To Defeat Trinity, 2-1
Hartford, Conn. Oct. 2, 2002 – Sophomore midfielder
Jennifer Durgin (Gorham, Maine) converted on the deciding stroke after two overtime periods had failed to produce a winner, leading the visiting Springfield College Pride to a 2-1 win over Trinity College in field hockey action this evening.
The teams played to a 1-1 tie through regulation and two overtimes, starting with a Bantam goal by junior forward
Kristen Grabowski (Burlington, Conn.) with 23:43 remaining in the first half. Trinity freshman forward
Caitlin French (Rye, N.Y.) assisted on the goal. With just 2:37 to go in the second half, Springfield sophomore defender
Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine)scored the game-tying goal, unassisted.

Katherine Byron (Weston, Conn.) was the lone Bantam to find the net on her stroke attempt, while Durgin and sophomore defender
Kim Stevens (North Knox, Maine) connected for the Pride.
Springfield sophomore goalie
Lindsay Pardue (Houston, Texas) made 21 saves, while Bantam junior netminder
Gwen Gillespie (Gates Mills, Ohio)stopped five shots.
The Bantams fall to 0-7 with their fourth one-goal loss of the season, while Springfield improves to 6-3 with its second-straight overtime triumph.
