Men's Lacrosse Names 2005 Captains
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., - Dec. 7, 2004 – The Springfield College men’s lacrosse team announced that seniors
Jason Beal (Homer, N.Y.),
Adam Cost (Camillus, N.Y.),
John Jenkins (Derry, N.H.), and
Tim Robbins (Easthampton, Mass.) have been named captains for the 2005 season.
As starters in the SC midfield, Cost was sixth on the team with 20 points (17 goals, 3 assists), while Beal finished 11th with 12 points (seven goals, five assists) last season. The Pride ranked fifth in scoring offense in Division III last spring, averaging 14.53 goals per game.
Jenkins and Robbins were mainstays on the SC defense that only yielded 8.25 goals per game as the Pride finished seventh in the country in scoring margin (+6.29 gpg).
Last season, SC finished with a 13-4 record and ranked No. 9 in the final Division III poll of the year. The Pride defeated Western New England College, 12-11, in the Pilgrim League Championship game to earn its fourth title and automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in the last five seasons. Making the program’s 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament, SC fell at Stevens Institute of Technology, 8-4, in a second-round game.
The Pride opens the 2005 campaign at home versus 2004 Division III national runner-up Nazareth (N.Y.) College on Saturday, March 5th at 1:00 p.m. on Benedum Field.
