Women's Soccer Ranked No. 24 in NSCAA National Rankings

Head Coach John Gibson Springfield, Mass. - October 1, 2013 - The Springfield College women's soccer team took down two of the top teams in the region last week to earn a spot in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) national poll.

The Pride is ranked No. 24 in the country after blanking MIT, 1-0 and taking down Roger Williams, 2-1 in overtime. MIT was the 13th ranked team in the country last week and top ranked in New England while Roger Williams was ranked fourth in the region. Springfield jumped to No. 4 in the region after being ranked eighth last week.

Springfield is 6-2 on the season and 2-0 in NEWMAC play, tallying wins in three-straight games. The Pride boast a well-rounded offense, with nine different goal scorers on 11 goals this season. The team has held opponents to eight goals in eight games and have posted four shutout wins this season.

Springfield will be on the road for its next game against Williams College on Wednesday for a 4:00 p.m. start.

John Gibson John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 14th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2013. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in six of the last eight years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country.
