Craig Sweiton (Frankfort, N.Y.) finished first in the long jump with a 20 foot, 2 1/4 inch (6.15 meters) effort, while sophomore
Justin Welch (Woburn, Mass.) lept to first in the high jump with a 6 foot, 3 inch (1.90 meters) performance to lead the Pride at the MIT Co-Ed Invitational, Saturday.
Sophomore
Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.) finished second in the shot put (50 feet, 8 inches, 15.44 meters) and sophomore
Jason Burnell (Poland, Maine) finished second in the high jump 6-1 (1.85 meters), while freshman
Chris Hamel (Methuen, Mass) finished third in the 3,000 meters (9:29.80) and freshman
Alex Knight (North Attleboro, Mass.) tied for third in the high jump (5 feet, 11 inches, 1.80 meters).
Senior
Vinnie Mazzaferro (Brimfield, Mass.) ran to fourth place in both the 55-meter (6.88 seconds) and 200-meter (23.64) dashes, while senior
Cory Langone (Whitesboro, N.Y.) finished fourth in the 600 meters (1:28.10), junior
Marcus Shetfall (Springfield, Mass.) finished fourth in the long jump (18 feet, 10 1/2 inches, 5.75 meters), and junior
Jason Mandolesi (Wilbraham, Mass.) finished fourth in the shot put (43 feet, 9 inches, 13.33 meters)

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
