Men's Track & Field Finishes 12th At New Englands
BOSTON, February 28, 2004 – Springfield College senior
Pawel Jaroszewicz (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished second in the 400-meter dash in a school record time of 47.47 at the New England Indoor Track and Field Championships held at Boston University last weekend (Feb. 28).
SC placed in a tie for 12th at the meet, which featured all Division I, II, and III schools from New England.
In the field events, junior
Justin Welch (Woburn, Mass.) finished in a tie for second in the high jump (six feet, seven inches), and junior
Blake Gulino (Old Saybrook, Conn.) finished sixth in the long jump competition (22 feet, 3 ¾ inches). In the shot put, junior
Matt Acciaioli (Warwick, R.I.) finished seventh (49 feet, five inches).
On the women’s side, SC sophomore
Sarah Tyman (West Suffield, Conn.) finished third in the 500-meter run (1:21.56) as the Pride finished 31st out of 46 scoring teams at the New England Championships last weekend.
SC senior
Suzie Snyder (Averill Park, N.Y.) earned All-New England honors in the Pentathlon as she finished in eighth place (2,427 points). SC sophomore
Meghan Young (Hurley, N.Y.) finished seventh in the 3,000-meter run (10:26.81).
SC is next at the ECAC Division III Championships, held at Bowdoin College on Saturday, March 6.

Ken Klatka, just inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in October, 2011, enters his 37th season as head coach of the men’s track and field program in 2012-2013. He ranks among the nation’s most successful coaches, with an overall record of 442 wins, 144 losses, and two ties for an impressive .753 winning percentage. Under his direction, Kevin Coyle '12 won the 2011 Division III Indoor Long Jump National Championship.
