



Springfield, Mass. -- September 20, 2010 -- Chris Kulcsar of the Springfield College football team has been named the Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week for his work in SC's 44-7 victory over Wilkes University last Saturday. Kulcsar is the third player from Springfield College named an Empire 8 Player of the Week in three weeks.Kulcsar, a senior defensive tackle from Haworth, N.J., finished with a team-high eight tackles on the day, including four solo stops. He also had two tackles-for-loss for 14 yards, and a sack for 10 yards early in the contest, taking the Colonials out of field goal range.
Springfield is now 3-0 on the season, and will play its next three games at home. The Pride's next contest is a 2 pm encounter with Empire 8 defending champion Alfred University this Saturday September 25. Alfred handed Springfield one of its two losses a year ago when SC finished 8-2.

Michael C. “Mike” DeLong ’74 enters his 31st season as a head football coach in the fall of 2012. He enters his 29th year at Springfield College alone. For the past 28 years, he has been the head coach at Springfield, his alma mater. Mike had also been the head coach at Maine Maritime in Castine, Maine in 1979 and 1980. Read more.
