Of the approximately 100 collegiate women's gymnastics teams listed by the NCAA, Springfield placed 24th nationally overall in the 2011-2012 GPA rankings.
Springfield also had five members of its team among the more than 400 who earned Scholastic All-America status as a result of attaining a grade point average of 3.5 or better for the year.
The five included Megan German, a senior from Spencer, Mass., with a 4.00 GPA; Kristina Lantos, a senior from Norton, Mass., at 4.00; Lauren Pocius, a freshman from Wallingford, Conn., at 3.82; Brittany Baglow, a junior from Amherst, Mass., at 3.80; and Sarah Perry, a sophomore from Collinsville, Ill., at 3.67.
Southern Utah finished first nationally as a team with its 3.8431 GPA. The top 10 included Southeast Missouri State (2nd at 3.7364), followed by UW LaCrosse (3.71.05), Utah (3.6644), Brown (3.6414), Towson (3.5860), Ohio State (3.5806), Alabama (3.5479), Western Michigan (3.5335), and Eastern Michigan (3.5239). Only Brown and Yale (14th at 3.4571) had better GPA's than Springfield in New England.
