



Wellesley, Mass. - November 10, 2011 - The Springfield College women's soccer team recently hand eight student-athletes named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women’s Soccer Academic All-Conference Team.Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2011 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
Representing Springfield on the academic team included Ashley Carresi, Erica Donnelly, Mary Hogan, Katie Mantie, Amanda Pace, Kristine Parnell, Kim Rasmussen, and Amber Thornton.
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College, Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
John Gibson, a native of London, England, enters his 14th season as head women's soccer at Springfield College in the fall of 2013. Gibson has led the Pride to the NCAA Tournament in six of the last eight years and has established the Pride as one of the top programs in the country. His clubs have registered an impressive a 165-75-21 record.
