AMHERST, Mass., February 4, 2006 - Springfield College freshman Moira Price (Berkeley Heights, N.J.) finished first in the 200 breast with an NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:27.29 on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 4) in Amherst, Mass., but it was the Lord Jeffs which prevailed over the Pride, 133-108.
Other first-place finishes for the Pride in the swimming events included senior All-American Sarah Strout (Boothbay, Maine) in the 1,000 free (10:42.12), and freshman Kristen Schadow (Ballston Spa, N.Y.) in the 200 butterfly (2:12.85).
SC swept the diving events at Amherst on Saturday, with senior Sarah Healy (Milton, Mass.) taking first on the one-meter board (238.04), and senior Naomi Shencavitz (Oneonta, N.Y.) winning the three-meter competition (230.77).
With the setback, the Pride falls to 7-7 overall on the season in its final dual-meet of the 2005-'06 season as it will next compete in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships at MIT on the weekend of Friday, February 17.
