Bascetta Tabbed NEWMAC Field Hockey Player Of The Week
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., - Sept. 8, 2004 - Springfield College junior midfielder
Meghan Bascetta (Granby, Conn.) was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Player of the Week after leading the No. 12 Pride to a pair of wins last week.
Bascetta tallied the Pride’s first goal and assisted on the second in a 2-0 win over Amherst College on Wednesday (Sept. 22). She then scored the game-winning goal with six seconds remaining in regulation as the Pride came back from a 2-1 deficit in the last three minutes to win, 3-2, versus Wheaton in its NEWMAC opener on Saturday (Sept. 25).
Bascetta ranks fifth in the conference in assists per game (.50) while the Pride (7-1, 1-0 NEWMAC) ranks second in scoring offense (3.12 goals per game) under first-year head coach

SC travels to Trinity College on Wednesday (Sept. 29) for a 4:00 p.m. match with the Bantams.
