Mantie Named NEWMAC Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week

Mantie Named NEWMAC Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week Babson Park, Mass. - October 24, 2011 - For the second time this season, Katie Mantie was honored by the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) for her play. On Monday, she was named the NEWMAC Women's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week.

Mantie shared the award with MIT's Ambika Krishnamachar.

The Wallingford, Conn. product played a key role in Springfield's two conference wins last week as the Pride was able to lock up hosting the NEWMAC Championship. In Tuesday's 3-1 win at home against vs. Clark, Mantie scored what would prove to be the game-winning goal in the 47th minute. On Saturday, Mantie was credited with the assist on the game's only goal in second overtime in the Pride's thrilling 1-0 victory at Babson.

To date, Mantie leads the league in both goals scored (10) and points (23).
