Top-seeded Springfield was the only team to win in three sets as it toppled eighth-seeded Baruch. Fifth-seeded Hunter upset fourth-seeded Kean in four sets, while both second-seeded UC Santa Cruz and third-seeded Carthage survived five-set thrillers.
The action resumes on Saturday when Springfield and Hunter play at 4:00 pm before UC Santa Cruz and Carthage will battle at 6:00 pm.
