



SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – January 13, 2007 – Bridgeport’s Maria Reitz captured the all-around, but it was the Springfield College women’s gymnastics team that defeated their counterparts from Bridgeport University, 173.400 to 172.525, Saturday night in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
With the win, Springfield becomes 2-0, while Bridgeport falls to 0-1.
The Springfield women captured two events as a team – including vault and floor exercise -- en route to the team victory. In the vault, SC won by a score of 45.750 to Bridgeport’s 43.200. In the floor exercise, it was SC 44.200 to 43.600. The Purple Knights finished first in the uneven parallel bars and the balance beam.
Finishing 1-2 for the Pride in the vault was sophomore Jackie Mazzola (Framingham, Mass.) with a score of 9.500, the top score of the meet, and freshman Jeanna Bradle (New Milford, Conn.) with a score of 9.350.
Winning the bars was Springfield freshman Audrey Lastra (New Milford, Conn.) with a score of 9.100. Senior Jillian Silverman (Ipswich, Mass.) tied for second at 9.050.
Winning the balance beam was SC senior Keriann Hart (Hanover, Mass.) with a score of 8.825.
Bradle finished with an All-Around score of 34.250, just .050 behind winner Reitz of Bridgeport.
