No. 20 Field Hockey Defeats MIT, 3-1

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Oct. 4 , 2003 - Springfield College senior back Maylese Leyva (Harwich, Mass.) scored the game's first goal on a penalty corner off a feed from junior midfielder Jen Durgin (Gorham, Maine) as the 20th-ranked Pride went on to defeat MIT, 3-1, this afternoon in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game.

SC sophomore midfielder Alisha Miner (Sanbornton, N.H.) scored the game-winning goal off an assist from sophomore midfielder Sarah Brooker (Auburn, Maine) with one second left in the first half.

Springfield senior back Jen Bush (Wallingford, Conn.) found the cage to add an insurance goal in the second half.
