Women's Track & Field Competes At B.U. and MIT
BOSTON, February 12, 2005 – Springfield College junior
Yasmin Goris (Worcester, Mass.) sprinted to first in the 55-meter dash to lead the Pride this past weekend at MIT’s Co-Ed Invitational.
Goris, who finished first in the 55-meter dash for the fifth time this season, ran a time of 7.55 to lead the field.
SC’s throwing squad had a great meet, capturing first place in both events. Senior
Amanda Alpert (Saugus, Mass.) won the shot put with a throw of 39 feet-11 ¼ inches, and sophomore
Rachel DiSaia (Waterford, Conn) won the weight throw with a toss of 42-1 1/2.
Pride senior
Sarah Martin (Madison, N.H.) took first place in the triple jump with a leap of 35- 3/4 and also posted a second-place finish in the 55-meter hurdles (9.05).
The women’s team also competed at Boston University’s St. Valentine Invitational this past Friday and Saturday, where many SC runners posted their best times of the season.
Junior
Alisha Miner (Sanbornton, N.H.) posted her fastest time of the season (1:00.32) in the 400-meter dash, while freshman
Krysten Meade (Raynham, Mass.) set a personal best in the 800 meters (2:25.15)
Miner and Meade teamed with juniors
Jessica Zaccaro (Washingtonville, N.Y.) and
Sarah Tyman (Suffield, Conn.) to run SC’s fastest 4x400-meter relay time of the season (4:07.22).

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
