Amherst, Mass. - February 2, 2014 - Although a first-place finish on the one-meter board for Jack Lewis (Durham, N.H.) proved impressive for the Pride, the Springfield College men’s swimming and diving team fell at the hands of No. 15 Amherst, 180-117 on Sunday afternoon, bringing their record to 2-9 on the season.
Lewis posted the third best score of the day on the one-meter with 307.27 points, and took second on the three-meter board with a score of 292.95, both national qualifying scores, to pace the Pride. Senior Jason Scotto (Southbury, Conn.) finished with the third best time in the 500 freestyle, finishing in 4:54.64.
Senior Pat Geraghty (Holyoke, Mass.) placed third in the 100 butterfly, posting a time of 53.53 while Hayden Cassidy (Ada, Mich.) finished third in the 100 freestyle with a time of 48.04.
Up next for the Pride will be the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championships from Feb. 21-23 at WPI in Worcester, Mass.
