Phoenix, Ariz. - March 15, 2012 - Frank Calabrese produced the an RBI single in the top of the 10th inning to propel the Springfield College baseball team past Macalester, 3-2, in extra innings on Thursday.The Pride now stand at 5-1 and have put together five wins in their first six games for the second-straight season.
Starter Mike McGowan pitched seven strong innings, but was not credited with the win. Tyler Benoit picked up the win in relief, while Adam DeFelice tossed the final 2/3 of the 10th inning to post the save.
Former Springfield College standout Mark Simeone will enter his 17th season as the head baseball coach at his alma mater in 2013 . The reigning NEWMAC Coach of the year is coming off a successful 2012 campaign in which the Pride went 20-15. Read more.
