Omura, Castine Named Field Hockey Captains
SPRINGFIELD, Mass., June 27, 2002 – Springfield College field hockey coach Dottie Zenaty
named seniors Elizabeth Omura
and Kelly Castine
co-captains for the 2002 season.
, a native of Connolly, N.Y.
, tied for fifth on the team in scoring with 11 points (5 goals, 1 assist) while starting in all 26 games for the Pride at forward. Omura, a sports biology major, came through in the clutch with game winning goals against Babson (Sep. 22), Mount Holyoke (Oct. 2), and Southern Maine (Nov. 3).
, a resident of Greenfield, Mass.
, was a key reserve playing in 13 of Springfield’s 26 games last fall. The midfielder was a member of the 2000 NCAA Division III Tournament runner-up team. A rehabilitation major, Castine brings leadership and experience to a young squad.
The Pride finished last season with a 19-7 record and won the ECAC Division III Northeast Championship.
