CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Dec. 10, 2003 - Springfield College junior
Jamie Bafaro (Mechanicsville, N.Y.) won the 55-meter high hurdles (9.10) and placed second in the 55-meter dash (7.91) to lead the Pride to a sweep over MIT and Southern Maine in the Sundown Showdown Meet at the Johnson Athletic Center on the campus of MIT.
Springfield sophomore
Alisha Miner (Sanbornton, Maine) led an SC sweep of the 400-meter run. Miner placed first (1:02.59) followed by
Jessica Denehy (1:03.19) and sophomore
Jess Zaccaro (Washingtonville, N.Y.) (1:04.34). Miner also captured the 200-meter dash in a time of 27.67.
SC senior
Katie Olson (Windham, Maine) won the 800-meter run (2:28.34). Junior
Leah Sullivan (Northboro, Mass.) won the shot put (38'10''). Senior
Leyla Williams (Unionville, N.Y.) won the weight throw (46'05'').

Jim Pennington enters his 29th season as head coach of the Springfield College women’s cross country and track and field teams in 2012-2013. Under Pennington’s direction, the Pride has recorded seven top 20 finishes at the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field Championships, and seven top 15 finishes at the NCAA Cross Country Championships.
