Men's Lacrosse Shuts Down WNEC, 16-3

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., April 23, 2003 – Springfield College freshman attackman
Taylor Brown (Portsmouth, R.I.) netted five goals and added two assists to lead the Pride to a 16-3 win over Western New England College in a battle of the top two teams in the Pilgrim League this evening on Benedum Field.
Leading, 4-2, with 7:50 remaining in the first half, the Pride (8-4, 5-0 Pilgrim) netted 12 unanswered goals for a commanding 16-2 lead with 1:39 remaining in the game. Springfield, which extended its winning streak to six games, avenged the 17-16 loss to the Golden Bears in the Pilgrim League Tournament Championship game last spring.
Sophomore attackman
Dan Blinn (Longmeadow, Mass.) added four goals for Springfield, which outshot WNEC, 49-24. Sophomore goalie P.J. Rovinelli (Framingham, Mass.) registered nines saves to pick up the win for SC.
Senior goalkeeper
Pat Dabrowski (Baltimore, Md.) was credited with 13 saves for WNEC (6-8, 4-1 Pilgrim).
