SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- January 22, 2009 – The Springfield College women’s gymnastics team will be hosting a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon in Blake Arena with a different twist as the Pride will have its eye on raising awareness towards breast cancer.The Pride will host Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
Springfield College plans to raise breast cancer awareness in the following way:
* the Springfield College women’s gymnastics team will be wearing pink uniforms during the meet
* pink ribbons will be handed out to all fans
* the arena will be decorated with signs and pink balloons
* the tournament’s game program will be pink
Springfield College is requesting fans wear pink apparel to these contests.
Cheryl Raymond, who will be entering her 33rd year as women's gymnastics coach and assistant professor of physical education at Springfield College in 2012-2013, is one of the top college coaches in the region. Read more.
