Martin and 4x100 Relay Compete in Opening Day of NCAA Championship

La Crosse, Wisc. - May 23, 2013 - In the opening day of the NCAA Division III Outdoor Women's Track and Field Championships, the Springfield College women's track and field team had several student-athletes compete.

The Pride's 4x100 relay team of Laurie Jenkins, Elizabeth Saia, Darian Dailey, and Crystal Davis took 11th in the prelims with a time of 48.04. The squad entered the competition seeded ninth after posting a qualifying time of 47.62.

Amanda Martin registered a distance of 17-02.75 (5.25 m) in her second leap of the day in the long jump to finish 19th out of 22 competitors. She had previously entered the competition with a qualifying mark of 5.6 meters, and will later perform in the triple jump on Saturday afternoon.

On Friday, Jenkins will run in the 100 meter dash prelims, and Gabriella Gaudreault will race in the 800 meter run prelims.
