Complete ResultsOrlando, Fla. - March 13, 2012 - The Springfield College men's tennis team suffered a 7-2 setback to the Monmouth Fighting Scots on Tuesday afternoon. Springfield had a pair of victories in singles action from Doug Nickerson and Joe Giannelli.
The loss sets back Springfield's record to 3-5 this year, including an 0-3 mark during its Spring Break trip.
Nickerson took the win at No. 4 singles, 7-5, 6-4, while Giannelli prevailed at No. 6 singles by a 6-1, 6-2 score.
Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
