Springfield, Mass. -- December 1, 2012 -- The Springfield College women's indoor track & field team placed first in its own 5-Way Meet at the Springfield College Field House this afternoon. The Pride finished with 191 points, followed by WPI with 146, Westfield State 130, Rhode Island College 65, and Utica 39.
It was the indoor opener for SC in its 2012-2013 season.
Top performers for SC in this meet on the women's side included senior Laurie Jenkins (Columbia, Conn.), junior Gabriella Gaudreault (Leominster, Mass.) and sophomore Amanda Martin (Bristol, Conn.). Jenkins took firsts in the 60-meter dash in 7.99 seconds and in the 200-meters in 26.19 seconds. She also helped SC take first in the 4x200-meter relay.
Gaudreault placed first in the 800-meter run in 2:17.65, and helped SC take a first in the 4x200 meter relay. She also helped SC take second in the 4x400 meter relay.
Martin captured two top finishes in the long jump in 17-4, and in the triple jump in 35-10 3/4.
In addition, senior Rhian Duggan (Northboro, Mass.) won the pole vault with a school-record leap of 10-10,
Other first-place finishers for the Pride included junior Erica Fisher (Chicopee, Mass.) in the 5000 with a time of 19:55.13 and senior Colleen Brague (Smithfield, R.I.) in the weight throw with a toss of 42-5 1/2.
In the 4x200 relay, placing first for SC were senior Crystal Davis (Hartford, Conn.), Gaudreault, freshman Darian Daley (East Providence, R.I.), and Jenkins.
