Springfield, Mass. -- June 19, 2012 -- The Springfield College wrestling team had three student-athletes own a grade point average of 3.2 or higher and were named National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III Scholar All-Americans. As a team, the Pride ranked 22nd in the nation with a cumulative GPA of 3.191.Augsburg College topped the nation in Division III with a 3.7341 GPA. Springfield College ranked fifth among Division III schools from New England.
Springfield's three individual honorees were all seniors as Jesse Sgaglione, Ryan McGilvray, and Ronald Thompson were honored for their academic success.
Jason Holder will enter his second season as head wrestling coach in 2012. Holder had a standout first season at the helm of the Pride, leading Springfield to the NEWA Duals Championship and taking three wrestlers to the NCAA Championships.
