



Williamstown, Mass. - September 25, 2010 - Sophomore Ryan O'Connell continued to run well as he paced the Springfield College men's cross country team to an 11th place finish in Saturday's Purple Valley Invitational.O'Connell placed 13th place overall as he completed the 8K course in 26:47. MIT and Keene State both finished with 90 points to win the Classic, with the edge going to the Engineers in a tiebreaker. Tufts (106), Fordham (106), and Middlebury (137) completed the top five.
Other runners who finished well for Springfield were sophomore Anthony Salvucci in 27:24, junior David Birdsall in 27:38, and sophomore Matt Scully in 28:35.
The Pride will head to Boston in two weeks for the New England Championships at Franklin Park.
Bryan Brown will enter his second season as the head men's cross country coach in the fall of 2012. Brown, who was a former All-American at Springfield College in track, led Springfield to a second-place finish at the NEWMAC Championships a year ago .
