



Springfield, Mass. -- October 3, 2011 -- The Springfield College women's tennis team won its second match in a row by defeating Suffolk, 7-1, this afternoon at SC's Appleton Courts. The win gave SC a record of 2-4.Junior Sam Carney (Franklin, Mass.) had a very good day at both No. 1 singles and at No. 1 doubles. Carney was a 6-3, 6-0 winner in singles, and then teamed with sophomore Jen Cleary (Nahant, Mass.) in doubles to win 8-1.

Toby Coffin G’01, enters his second year as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach at Springfield College. Coffin, who has coached at numerous high schools in the area, will look to build a program which will contend for a conference crown.
