Malone Earns NEWMAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Honor

Ryan Malone Boston, Mass. - September 16, 2013 - After powering the Springfield College men's soccer team to three non-conference wins last week, Ryan Malone (Chicopee, Mass.) was honored as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week.

Malone has made an immediate impact in his return to the Springfield lineup after missing last season with an injury. Last week, he solidified a Springfield defensive unit that posted a pair of shutouts and allowed just nine shots on goal.

Additionally, he has been able to create plenty of offense, tallying the game-tying goal in the Eastern Nazarene win and netting the game-winner against Western Connecticut on Sunday.

The Pride will now prep for the conference opener which will take place on Saturday at Wheaton. Game time is set for 1:00 pm.
