



St. Catherine Box ScoreAtlanta, Ga. - September 11, 2010 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team finished in second place at the Emory Classic on Saturday afternoon after convincing wins over St. Catherine and Gettysburg.
Lauren Torvi was named to the All-Tournament team after a standout weekend of play as one of the Pride's middle hitters.
The Pride cruised to a pair of three-set wins by the scores as it beat St. Catherine, 25-15, 25-12, 25-19, and Gettysburg, 25-18, 25-18, 25-20.
The two wins makes Springfield 7-1 this season as it went 3-1 in the Emory Classic. Emory, which is currently ranked third in the nation, won the tournament after winning all four of its matches.
In the victory over St. Catherine, Springfield played one of its finest matches of the young season, hitting .337 as a team. Heather Lively produced a team-best 12 kills in the victory, while Sarah Lang-Rodean tallied 11 kills on 17 errorless swings. Torvi added 10 kills, and setter Kelsea Hellyar ran the offense with 31 assists. Meaghan Hart posted 10 digs in the victory.
Lang-Rodean was outstanding in the win over Gettysburg as she connected on 15 kills, hitting .565, while Torvi added 11 kills and Lively chipped in with 10.

Moira Long will enter her third season as head women's volleyball coach in the fall of 2013. Long wasted little time putting her stamp on the program, taking the Pride to the NCAA Championship Elite Eight in 2011.
